General Description Specifications

Isolated from the rat skin, fibroblasts are a form of MSC. Due to their resilience and ease of growing in culture, they have been widely employed for a variety of cellular and molecular studies. These cells can be subjected to a range of modifications, including microinjection and gene transfection. While their function is similar to fibroblasts found elsewhere, during the healing of wounds, dermal fibroblasts transition from a proliferative, migrating phase to a contractile, matrix-remodeling phase. Moreover, they are able to respond to inflammatory stimuli by releasing large amount of hyaluron.
